Frequently Asked Questions

What is Airlines for Australia and New Zealand (A4ANZ)?

  • Airlines based in Australia and New Zealand are forming an organisation to advocate and pursue reform on key issues that impact the aviation sector and broader economy in our region.

Who is part of the organisation?

Establishment members of the industry group, A4ANZ are the following airlines: Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Qantas, Regional Express, Tigerair and Virgin Australia.

How is A4ANZ funded?

A4ANZ will be funded by its members, similar to industry groups that represent the interests of other sectors, such as mining, banking, pharmaceutical, agricultural and many others. Aviation-focused industry groups also exist internationally, such as Airlines for America and Airlines for Europe.

What is A4ANZ going to achieve?

Representing international, national, regional, full service and low cost airlines, A4ANZ will advocate on key public policy issues such as airport operations and efficient access to infrastructure in the interests of our passengers, staff and shareholders. The organisation will provide a single voice on behalf of Australian and New Zealand airlines, contributing to national and international policy debates on issues impacting our industry in our region. Priority issues will include the efficiency of airport infrastructure and operations.

Why is this new organisation necessary?

The aviation sector is an important component of both the Australian and New Zealand economies. By improving connectivity, keeping cost down and improving the experience of customers we can make a strong contribution of our communities. Airport cost and congestion continues to be a barrier to this growth and regulatory changes may be required to fix the problem. Defining and assisting with the implementation of policy reforms and other measures will be the key achievement of A4ANZ.

Stay tuned, there will be more coming soon.
